The Joys of Owning an A1, or Why We Chose an A1:

The A-1 is the smoothest moving and running machine out there. We tested each machine and found the A-1 to be just a superior product.  Originally we wanted the machine to do personal quilts, life being the ever changing thing it is, we decided to quilt for the public to provide additional income to retirement income.  We also do work for decorators, such as custom bedspreads and found the A-1 to be the perfect tool for this.  In the spring of 2010, we made a queen size bedspread for a high queen bed.  It took about one day to quilt edge to edge with a dense feather pattern.  We have had a few problems and found Karen and other dealers willing to help and also honest when something stumps them.  This also applies to the staff at A-1.  They have been great to work with and can say they give service after the sale.  They truly care that you get the most out of your A-1 and work to make that happen. Concerning the 2010 A1 Texas Reunion:

I want to sincerely thank you for sharing you for hosting such a fun, enjoyable weekend for us A1 ladies. Your planning, enthusiasm and genuine passion was evident through the “hula” theme, the food (thank you Annette) and with all the A1 quilting tips and the Square in a Square technique class. I really enjoyed the terrific A1 ladies and am newly excited about quilting again. Thank you so much for sharing your home and your experience and your passion! Norine (in Katy, TX)

Email concerning A1 DVDs:

I finally got finished watching the DVD that came with the machine.  If I would have watched it first, I would have been able to get the tiny thread from the bobbin area when it locked up without calling you.  Stewart's  DVD is good, but Jamie's is EXCELLENT.  Last night, I finished watching just the first disc.  Remember I told you that I wanted you to spend the week with me?  Having Jamie spend the rest of my life with me is even better.

You are very good going over the machine with your clients.  But, there is only so much that I can retain.  I can look at the machine and the parts, I remember that you talked about that particular part but what you said, usually, I don't remember.  Jamie goes over the same thing you did, very slow and the DVD is such good quality that you can see it just like when you were here.

I can't wait to get time to watch the next three discs.  Hopefully, I will be able to watch the second one tonight.  I think it will be more on the operation of the machine -- all those things you went over with me that are swimming around in my head.

...  It is so well worth the money for any A-1 owner to purchase this DVD set.

It's a wonder that I was ever able to operate and turn out half way decent quilts with the dump truck .  I didn't know anything about that machine.  I bought (edited: that manufacturer)'s maintenance DVD and it was a waste of money, as far as I'm concerned.  When I got through watching it, I didn't know any more than when I started.  He talked about timing but I didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about.

That fact that you, in person, took the machine apart and showed me what to do and now I have the DVD as a refresher, is so wonderful.  I can't say enough about how good this is. I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH JAMIE WALLEN, JUST A SATISFIED CUSTOMER.  Although, he really should pay me a commission for promoting his DVD. :)

(note from Karen - ALL of Jamie's DVD's are invaluable - I suggest any longarm quilter purchase his Mystical Cotton Tracks to learn how to do fabulous feathers and more!)
